Dog Leashes
Dog leashes today are almost a requirement. Unless we are in a specific area that allows it, dogs must be restrained when they are in public. This of course protects they safety of the people as well as the dog.
Dog leashed help us keep our K-9 pals under control. They prohibit them from taking off and running free. This helps to keep them from danger and posing danger to others. There are many objects, moving or otherwise that can cause potential harm for a dog. A dog leash can help keep them away from these.
Dog leashes also help us to train our dogs. We can teach a dog to walk properly and not to pull. It takes a few tries with a leash but most dogs pick it up quite quickly. They also come in handy when other animal distractions come our way. Dogs can become quite worked up when a cat or other small creature comes into view. A dog leash helps keep them from taking off after their prey.
There are several types of dog leashes. There ones that are adjustable that allows your dog a fair bit of space. These are best after you dog has had a bit of training. Once they learn to obey your commands they can venture off on their own slightly. There are short dog leashed for those pooches that need to be kept close. Dogs that like to chase or jump on members of the public should start off with these.
For those that want to give their dogs a sense of style, there are designer dog leashes. These are available in a variety of labels and enable you to show what excellent taste your dog has.
Unfortunately our dogs do need to be restrained. Partially for their own safety but also for the safety of the general public. A good Dog leash in needed to both train and control your dog. Keep them on a short lead at first; then as progress is made you can give them more space. As time goes on you may want to consider an agility leash or one that is extra long. The more space they can have generally the better.
