Owning a dog is one of life’s great privileges. Dogs offer us so much and only ask to be loved and cared for in return. Owning a dog does take some time and commitment. They need to be walked and leaving them on their own does take some getting used to on their part. However, the years of fun and joy dogs can bring to your life is far worth the time commitment and possible struggles that you will face training and preparing them.
Before you get a dog, you will have to get used to some dog barking. You need to consider how your neighbors might feel if you live in close proximity. Dogs generally only bark if their bothered about something. If they are barking it may be a sign that something isn’t right. Dogs will bark also when they are excited. If you play with your Dog they may start to bark quite loudly. You may want to keep play times early in the evening so the neighbors don’t get upset.
Once you get a dog, it will be hard to resist the urge to spoil it. There are many places to get good pet supplies. However, try to resist spending your rent money on dog toys. You and your new friend don’t want to end up homeless with lots of toys to play with.
There are some great places to get dogs. Breeders will have dogs and puppies for sale. They are good if you’re looking for a specific breed of dog. Hunting dogs, pit bull puppies and other pure breads usually can be found through private breeders. These Dogs will not be cheap but they will usually be registered with papers.
One of the most rewarding this you can do is help out a local animal shelter. They have free Dogs and Cats on offer. These are animal that need a home. The animals are fine and safe. They are ready to be rehomed in a domestic situation. Animal shelters would never rehome a dangerous or nervous dog before it was ready. They also work with sick puppies and other ill animals to get them fit for a new home.
Owning a Dog is a wonderful experience and spoiling dogs is just plain fun. You do need to consider dog ownership carefully. Make sure you have time to spend with your new friend and have enough space. If you do, get ready for unconditional love and attention.
