Unfortunately, Rottweilers have gained a somewhat negative reputation. The combination of bad press and poor training has not made life easy for this dog. Rottweilers are actually very loving dogs and can make great pets if they are trained and socialized properly. Rottweilers need lots of stimulation or they will find clever and destructive ways of stimulating themselves.

Those that own a Rottweiler from a puppy should socialize it by introducing it to as many people as social situations as possible. They will learn to accept others rather than becoming a one person dog.

The rottweiler has a natural guarding instinct. It will want to protect its home against unknown entities. Early conditioning is important to keep the Rottweiler from scaring away your company. Rough play should also be avoided. This can make their natural instinct more pronounces.

Before owning a Rottweiler, make sure that you can control it. They do need time and consistent fair training. Never leave a child in charge of the Rottweiler. They will run circles round them and not get what they need.

In general, Rottweilers are very devoted Dogs. With proper training and care they are perfectly safe. They tend to like children and will do everything to protect them.

Anyone wanting a Rottweiler will have no problem finding one. There are several rottweiler breeders that have Rottweiler puppies for sale. Rottweilers also end up in shelters quite often. However, get all of the information you can on the Dog before taking it on. Make sure you are firm and confident enough to control the Dog. The American Kennel club and other animal charities will offer excellent advice and support on how to train and condition your Rottweiler.

Despite their Bad reputation, Rottweilers can make great companions. They are very intelligent and devoted dogs. However, they can get aggressive if they are not trained properly. With time and good training however, A Rottweiler can be your best friend.
